Food Rescue benefits from supermarket token scheme
Worcester Food Rescue recently received a £419 donation from Worcester’s Waitrose store through their green token scheme. A big THANKYOU to all who voted! The funds were very gratefully received and will be put to good use in the running of the food rescue project.
Worcester Food Rescue volunteers undertake regular collections of surplus food from several stores and deliver to local good causes including Acorns, St. Richard Hospice, St. Pauls Hospice and the YMCA. Christmas 2018 was a good period with a few extra collections, which went to our usual recipients as well as to the Chestnut pub, to benefit their Christmas meal for the homeless. This is food that otherwise would have gone to landfill. We have also been featured on BBC Hereford & Worcester Radio when they accompanied us on two collection/ delivery runs.
New volunteers are always welcome- if you are interested in helping us please fill out the form on: http://oldnorthstables.org.uk/worcester-food-rescue/ If you would like more information first, please contact Patrick on 07488231274 or email foodrescue-coord@oldnorthstables.org.uk
