In conjunction with the Worcester Orchard Workers group, we promote the maintenance and use of the orchards around the city.
In March, we took part in a study conducted by Rebecca Lashley, on behalf of Herefordshire Wildlife Trusts, Natural England and the West Midlands Biodiversity Partnership.
The study formed part of the initial work to establish a traditional orchard project, within the Integrated Biodiversity Delivery Area (IBDA) of the Wye, Severn and Avon Vales.
Our comments and interviews fed into the report entitled ‘Scoping study for the Wye, Severn and Avon Vales IBDA traditional orchard project’. The excellent report is available to download. The learning outcomes, although aimed at the specific IBDA project, are likely to be relevant to anyone interested in traditional orchards and how to engage and involve communities.
