Confirmed Dates: Apple Pressing Events

Submitted by on Thu 25 October, 2012 – 3:51 pm2 Comments

We’ve had a good time at our recent apple pressing events, with lots of conversations with interesting people. Unfortunately though, the apples have been a bit of a let down this year. There just aren’t enough of them! We think that apple crops are much lower this year due to the extremes of weather that we have seen, particularly the very wet spell earlier in the year.

Therefore, we’ve made the decision to cancel the last apple pressing event that we had planned. This last event was due to be at the Countryside Centre on Saturday 17th November. However, the other apple pressing events planned will still go ahead – so if you have a glut of apples, or any apples at all that you would like to be pressed, please come along on one of the following days:

Saturday 27th October at Laugherne Brook Nature Reserve

Saturday 3rd November at the Commandery Gardens

Both days will be running 11:00 until 15:00, and we’d love to see you. But bear in mind that Saturday 3rd November is now your last chance, the planned apple pressing on Saturday 17th November will not be taking place.

That’s a pity, as I type this (Sun 4/11/12, Bitola, Macedonia) I’m at the end of a marathon 9 week cycle trip across Europe. I was hoping to get some apples from the wild after my return and get them juiced – the cider and perry I made last year was delicious. Oh well, see you next year!

That’s such a shame! I have two wheelbarrows of apples I was hoping to press tomorrow (17/11/12) and just thought to check the website to find my way to the Countryside Centre and found out the event was cancelled! That’s the second apple pressing event I was hoping to attend this year that has been cancelled – the other one was in Colwall.

Never mind, I’ll rapidly have to come up with a plan C!!! It seems I have been very lucky with apples this year, while there has been a real shortage for most people.

    All the best!
