Lend a hand – Sat 17th March

Submitted by on Sat 10 March, 2012 – 6:52 pmOne Comment

Transition Worcester’s Orchard Worker group has been asked to help look after 100 trees in a family-owned orchard at Newtown, Martley.

On Saturday 17th March a group will be heading out to do some pruning, the first bit of practical work on this site.

This is a great opportunity to help keep this local orchard productive, especially as the varieties planted are known, unlike many of the sites TWOW are involved with! This is also the last chance to do any pruning of apples and pears this season.

The group will be on site from 10am til at least 12:30pm. If you would like to join them, please email transitionworcester@gmail.com. You will need to bring your own gloves, suitable outdoor clothing and perhaps a packed lunch, but tools will be provided. As parking is very limited, and for sustainability of course, we strongly encourage car sharing! So please mention in your email whether you would need or can offer a lift and from where. We can then let you know exact location details.

Happy pruning!
